id 20-05 Bone Shaker

Bone Shaker – id
The Bone Shaker is the Hot Wheels flagship vehicle now and has been for several years. It is a great casting that has some variation to its different releases. There is a closed top and open top version (id release is the open top version – not an exclusive feature). In the mainline, there are pixelated versions, speeder versions, off road versions and even a down sized version with a driver that shakes as it rolls down the track!

The id version is yet again a whole other level in Hot Wheels  decorations. The Spectraflame blue paint is stunning on this casting. Larrys (Larry Wood is the designer of the casting) chop shop is detailed on the sides and there is a very impressive rust detailing over the entire body giving the casting the true rat rod look. This is possibly the most detailed rust look on a Hot Wheels to date. The decals lighten up to a pitted look in spots, they continue from the top into the cabin as if water ran down into the cabin and rusted it out. The id only wheels are cast in Faster Than Ever bronzish gold (not very common in the id castings yet) with white accent lettering. The White lettering on the wheels also elevates the look, reminds me of the classic main line wheel styling.

The side pipes and engine are cast in a slightly different tone than the front skull grill, providing a subtle detail that is different from mainline releases.  A lot of the mainline releases are also cast with chrome engines, so the interior is chrome – not a fan. The id is cast in a dark grey, also giving a touch of realism to the casting.

This one is not one of the exclusives but has been a fan favorite for some time now. I picked this one up on Amazon for market price. For any collector and more so, the Bone Shaker collector, this one should be high on the list of must haves. There is a different version in app but it is not as good in app as the id version.

Thank you,
Collector Quentin
