id 20-06 KITT

K.I.T.T. – id
This casting really needs no introduction but just in case, it is a copy of the Trans Am driven by Michael Knight in the TV show Knight Rider. This version is my least favorite release so far but it gets popular and hard to find in the mainline so I though it would be best to grab one while I could.

The id version of KITT scores low for me as the detailing is not up to the standards of the rest of the id series in my opinion. There is a license plate that reads KNIGHT and is detailed as a California plate. The detailing for the plate is very well done. The front light that was the famous characteristic of the real car is a decal but is very hard to see. The original TV car was a menacing solid black and the spectraflame black looks more like gunmetal than black. I would prefer a solid gloss black paint job for this one. The interior color is correct and looks good. This seems to be a re-casting of the mainline with a red decal for the front light and the id chip added, nothing more. To pick this review back up off the floor, the wheels are very nicely done in black with a chrome ring and red lettering.  I like this treatment on the wheels.

I have used this car in the app. It is easy to drive and is competent on track. If you look at it in the virtual garage, it actually looks better than the real casting! The light also moves and has the noise of the real tv car!

Thank you,
Collector Quentin

I own the actual diecast pictured in this post. However, all packaging artwork, Mattel or Hot Wheels logos, paint descriptions and wheel descriptions in regard to the Hot Wheels versions are copyrights of the Mattel toy company.
